2004 August Travel to Japan for うどん (UDON)

Few years ago, I got one book that wrote by MuraKami Haruki who is favorite writer in Japan and Taiwan, one section of this book interaction how’s deep to eat Udon in ShiKoKu of Japan.

So, when I plan to travel for summer vacation, I tell my wife “Let’s go to Japan to eat Udon”.

For some reason we start our trip from Nagoya and then we take Nozomi Shinkansen through Osaka to Okayam then we transfer local train (Marineliner) to Takamatsu which is Main City of Kagawa in Shikoku of Japan.

There are many Udon restaurants in Kagawa, the first day we arrive Takamatsu, we got some guides from the Information center (in Japan, you can find this kind of Information center at real station and most of the people work in this center can speak English well)

After we check in the Hotel, we start to eat Udon, the Hotel we stayed is Toyuko Inn, which we stayed before at north of Japan.

First Udon we eat is うどん棒

People eat Udon at a room where you need take off your shoes and seat at the floor that Japanese call TaTaMi. We order うどん, 和?冷麺うどん and かき玉子 とじうどん, we also order some 天婦?, the taste is good.

�K田屋 田町店 Kurodaya Tamachi

Actually we are full can not eat any thing after finish うどん 棒, but when we saw this restaurant, I said “Let ’s go ”, we just order one small Udon but the taste is good, they provide some thing like minced spring onion, daikon (radishes) and tenpura scums on the table, you need grind ginger by yourself if you want to add some on your noodle.

うどん

We want to find one Udon restaurant which call “ 竹清Udon ” but they open at 10:45am one old wamen tell us very lound because we can not understand what she said, we need take bus to Osaka, we must give up, maybe next time we will come to here again, when we walk at Kanko Dori, we found this restaurant.

Must Udon restaurant sale Shushi, Tenpura, Korokke, Oden etc, you can see so many thing they sale in the picture below. Normally Japaness reading the Manga during eat.

To find this restaurant we spend lot of time but it's worth.

Wakayama (和歌山) 井出商店?華Raman

We ask the lady in information center where Ramen is good for taste and near the station, she give me a map and tell me 井出商店 is good, this is a small Ramen restaurant, the house is full when we arrived but we did not wait too long, my wife order each Ramen but each one are vry similar, you can see the Menu on the picture, first one is regular Ramen, second one is special Ramen, they put lot of meat inside, third one is large size means double noodle, last one is special large size Ramen, now you know we just eat one kind of Ramen but different size.

Anyway, the Ramen is good, we also have tried Sushi which put fish inside, they provide boil egg but I don't know why pepole eat egg in Ramen restaurant.
